Proverbs Concert: This past Sunday we were blessed with a ministry in song by The Proverbs, one of Canada's longest serving gospel music groups. Their music and testimony lifted our hearts and glorified God.

Pastor Joyce Farewell: During the service, Pastor Joyce Box, brought greetings and a testimony in her farewell remarks. She expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve at Grace church and told of an exciting opportunity coming for a study visit to the Holy Land in conjunction with McMaster Divinity College. Continue to keep her in your prayers.

Life Plan Report: Several speakers reported on the Life Plan strategic plan and analysis. Following congregational and leadership surveys and an analysis of demographic statistics, a committee is preparing planning documents to help the church chart its course. The goal is to have a healthy, growing church, leading people to faith in Christ, helping them mature in the faith. Updates will be made available as the project moves forward.

The annual Christmas Banquet took place Sat. Dec. 3, 2011 at 6 p.m. at the World Vision (Grace Ministry Centre). It was a great occasion to enjoy the fellowship and good food.

NOVEMBER - MISSIONS FOCUS

WORLD RELIEF SUNDAY - Nov. 13

Thanks to all who made donations for World Relief in November with more than $1,000 contributed, for ministry to needy areas of the world. This agency represents several evangelical Christian denominations in providing relief and development in needy areas. Government matching funds help multiplay many donations. 30% of funds raised in Free Methodist Churches will be reserved for needs within our own churches overseas. Thank you for this display of compassion for the needy of the world.

LIVE REPORT FROM TAIWAN - Nov. 27

During our Sunday morning worship service last Sunday (Nov. 27) we had a good visit with the Payk missionary family in Taiwan through a Skype internet link. We saw their faces on screen and heard their voices as Chris and Terri shared news of their ministry. We thank God for this dedicated missionary family who have completed their formal Chinese studies and are in active ministry.

Natural Church Development survey - thank you!

We appreciate all who participated in the NCD survey last week. This planning tool is helpful in evaluating the health of a church. With the results we will be able to thank God for our strengths and prayerfully look at our weaknesses to help strengthen those areas which need attention. Like a full physical exam by the doctor, it is designed to promote better health.

Thank you to Rev. Kim Henderson for her message last week and for her skillful guidance through this strategic planning ("Life Plan") project.

Sun. Nov. 6, our guest is Pastor Vic Stonehouse who will share insights into the meaning of Christian communion (Lord's Supper). We will also take time for remembering our armed forces and those who made great sacrifices to defend liberty around the world and protect the security of our nation.

Remembrance Day is November 11. Wear a poppy to express your support for our military personnel.

September 25 we were blessed by the ministry of guest speaker, Rev. Victor Stonehouse. Thanks Pastor Vic Stonehouse for your challenging and encouraging ministry.

Pastor Vic shared with the congregation the concept "Mission Possible". He encouraged us to believe that God could use each of us in special ways - key verse was John 20:21 "...As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.". Cards were distributed among the congregation with the caption "Lord, I'm Available". We were each encouraged to seek out places where God is working and to join Him in that area of ministry.

As our congregation works through the Life Plan, we trust the Lord will truly use each of us in the great mission of the gospel.

Thanks for ministry of the Wrights

Last Sunday, Sept. 18, we were blessed with the ministry of Pastor David Wright and his wife Jennifer, home from ministry in Niger, West Africa. They were accompanied by their two sons.

Jennifer gave an interesting presentation to the children on the tradition of tea drinking and social life in Niger. Pastor David shared from the story of Jesus walking on the water and Peter's walk on water. He challenged us to bold and courageous ventures for the Lord.

They will be travelling and visiting churches over the next few months sharing their mission experiences, thanking churches for their financial support and preparing for a return to Niger in 2012. They are involved in a pioneer venture in Niger, including planing a new church.

"Life Plan" - We embarked on this study of our church life with a survey completed by those attending last Sunday's service (Sept. 11). Rev. Kim Henderson, national personnel director for the FMC brought the morning sermon and encouraged the congregation with the "Life Plan" project. This project over the next few months will help get a picture of our ministries, our potential and discover God's will for the future ministry of Grace Methodist Church.

Fathers Day was a special occasion at Grace church, June 19. We were blessed by a presentation from our children's and youth choir. Many thanks to Karen Regala and those who assisted her.

Pastor's Message - June 19 - "Like Father, Like........" 1 Corinthians 10:23 to 1 Cor. 11:1

Key thoughts: As Christians interact with other religions and cultures we need to be sensitive toward these people and always do everything for the glory of God by following Christ. We may feel free in Christ to take a certain food or beverage, but if there are those present at the table who would be offended, we may choose to abstain, rather than bringing offense to one who has a sensitive conscience, all for the glory of God.

In life there are moral absolutes and grey areas where wisdom is needed.

Food for thought: The Pharisees had piety without holiness and they crucified Jesus.

Nothing happens automatically in the Christian life. The joy filled Christian life is, like an athlete in training, worth effort and focus. As athletic Christ followers ... ensure proper rest, replenish and resist temptation. Rest in the saving grace of Christ. Replenish your soul with that which gives energy, builds and purifies your faith. Resist the impulse to "just do anything". Cultivate a quiet and devoted dependence on God. "We are not saved by good works but we are saved to do good works."

Grace family enjoys 20th anniversary celebration

Children's Choir - Grace Methodist Church

A near capacity crowd celebrated the 20th anniversary of Grace Methodist Church on May 15, 2011 - 10:30 AM at the World Vision auditorium. A children's choir delighted the congregation reciting Bible verses and singing "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me". The friendship committee outdid them selves in contacting friends of Grace to bring them to the special celebration. They also provided a marvellous luncheon with the cafeteria filled with hungry happy people enjoying delicious food. The Lord's presence was felt in a special way, encouraging Pastor Elisabeth Natividad and her congregation.

Founding pastor, Rev. Bruce Cryderman shared some of the experiences of the early days in establishing Grace church. To God be the glory, great things He has done ! Guest preacher, Bishop Keith Elford, brought uplifting words to the congregation citing 4 stories from the Bible where God miraculously provided for people of faith facing incredible challenges.

"Life in Marriage" - some key points from the message

1 Corinthians 7:1-7

Humans are lovingly designed by God for relationships with God and others.
Satan hates all God loves and seeks to destroy human relationships.
Sin is, in essence, living independently of God.

Christ Jesus died and lives to rescue us from sin. John 1:12; 2 Peter 1:3-4
To live as authentic humans we must learn from our Creator how to live life. John 6:45

Marriage therefore is designed by God and is a refining process for us. When it is consecrated to God it can be the greatest joy. When it is not based on Christian values, it can bring the greatest heartache.
